Audio Analyzer ATB 805
Professional measurement can not be easier. The price is very favourable.
Hardware
The ATB 805 USB unit is an easy to use 2-channel Audio Analyzer. The functions are power amplifier, microphone amplifier and high precise 24bit, 94kHz Converter. The measurements are easy to set with the measurement switch.
Due to the 2-channel it is also for measurement programs besides ours.
Measurement switch Speaker power switch, SPL calibrated
Speaker out with 32W at 8Ω, 60W at 4Ω; 2 x microphone in; Digital out with coaxial and optical; 2 x LINE in and 2 x LINE out
Software
The ATB PC Pro Measuring system is a professional Audio Analyzer.
The Windows XP or Vista program is combined with the computer’s soundcard, the measurement microphone and the Test-Box forms an exact and extensive measurement system.
The applications for the ATB PC Pro are the speaker development, room acoustic optimize, the installation of car sound systems, the setting of Surround reproduction systems and the noise analyser. For testing the home cinema system there is the Surround-Test DVD for the signals. For setting a car sound system there is the Auto-Test CD for the signals.
The following measurements are available:
Electric and acoustic amplitude frequency response, SPL, RTA, Magnitude
Electric and acoustic phase frequency response
Impedance measurement
Step response
Distortion THD
Distortion IMD
RMS (sound) level meter
Thiele-Small parameter
The Windows measuring program corresponds to a small ATB precision program offering all the functions of the Windows operating system.
Notebooks and external USB soundcards prove to be ideal for this field of work.
For the high precision of the measurement there is a calibration of the soundcard.
For CAD or calculation program or data base the ATB PC data can be exported in many formats. The export is to MLSSA, LAUD, IMP and CLIO file.
SOUNDCARD SETTING
CALIBRATION
The measurement switch is set to Calibration
The system-correction function measured a file for the correction of the soundcard. This will be used automatically for the following measurements.
With the Mic-correction the calibration file for the ATB microphone will be loaded. There is also a function to set microphone calibration for other microphones.

MEASUREMENT FUNCTIONS
Single measure, single measure+ up to 32 curves
Continued measure RTA, continued measure+ for the setting of devise
Continued measure with averaging, continued measure with averaging+ for anechoic measurement in room or automotive and for the power distribution of a speaker
IN AND OUTPUT LEVEL CONTROL, GENERATOR
PARAMETER, PLOTMENU,COMBINE
The parameter menu is for scaling, smoothing and dB setting
The plotmenu is for setting colour and name of the plots. It can also copy to the clipboard as text file and can delete a plot.
The combine menu is for combining the nearfield measurement for the bass with the SPL for the mid and high.
SPL MEASUREMENT
The measurement switch is set to SPL
Setting for the SPL measurement
For the SPL (Sound Pressure Level) measurement there is the included measurement microphoneMC2. The microphone is connected to the MIC input of the soundcard. The frequency response is very flat in the range from 20Hz – 20kHz. Therefore there is no need of a correction. The plot shows the response of the microphone with calibration file.
The RMS level meter is for the calibration of the microphone.
It is for reading out the sound pressure level, SPL.
IMPEDANCE MEASREMENT
The measurement switch is set to Impedance
For the impedance measurement there is the Test-Box. The box is connected between the headphone and the MIC input of the soundcard. The Impedance plot is shown in the SPL graph and the scaling is at the right side.
MAGNITUDE MEASUREMNT
The measurement switch is set to Magnitude
The Magnitude is an electrical measurement for testing preamplifier, DSP and other units with line level. The headphone out of the soundcard is connected to the input of unit under test via the test-box. The output of the unit is connected to the MIC input of the soundcard. The test-box is switched to CORRECTION and 2.
PHASE MEASUREMENT
The phase measurement is due to the automatically 0-phase calculation function. For the measurement there is no setting of a distance or time window. The phase measurement is not influenced by the user so there is always the right phase plot. The acoustical phase measurement is comparable.
STEP MEASUREMENT
The step measurement is similar to the step response measurement. It shows the time behaviour of the sound pressure of a speaker. For subwoofer sound systems there is to measure the impulse of the Subwoofer and the satellites. Therefore, the phase control of the subwoofer could be set in the way, that both speakers have the same impulse.
The three Steps show the different delays between tweeter and mid of a two speaker system
SPECTRUM ANALYZER
The ATB PC program is a very comfortable spectrum analyzer. It is for analysing all kinds of sound. The program is used in the automotive industries to reduce the noise of the car. The picture shows the spectrum of the signal 13.The red curve is without and the blue curve with distortion.
Distortion THD
The THD measurement works with a sine wave. The frequency range is from 20Hz – 7kHz. The calculation is up to K8. The value is displayed in %. The frequency spectrum is shown in the plot to see the characteristic of the distortion.
With the modern on board soundcard the resolution is 0,002%.
Distortion IMD
For the IMD measurement there is the signal 13. The signal is shown in the Analyzer capital. The intermodulation distortion measurement is for the test of a non-linear transfer function of a unit. This is described by Wolfgang Klippel.
The measurement is for testing the sound quality and the maximal undisturbed Power. To see the quality the Q-index is displayed. The distortion can be heard if the value for the Q-index is smaller than 1100.
The program displays the Q-index and the spectrum.
Thiele-Small Parameter
The Thiel-Small parameter measurement is copied from the ATB precision Audio analyser used all over the world. The measurement is very precise. It gives you error messages when there is something wrong with the measurement. The program uses the weight method.
